Grand Knight, Bernie Torra

Sir Knight, Bernie Torra, a Fourth Degree Knight, joined the Order in 2015, and has held multiple Council positions including Communications Director, Lecturer, Chancellor,  Deputy Grand Knight and now serves as Worthy Grand Knight.

Bernie, a cradle Catholic, and native Miamian, was baptized at Immaculate Conception Church, and attended St Monica and Immaculate Conception  Churches and schools as a child; serving as an Altar Boy and in youth ministries. His Catholic faith was nurtured and sustained by his mother, Hilda, a humble and faithful servant of our Blessed Mother Mary. He is convinced Global Warming is responsible for his expanding mid section and is equally convinced of God’s constant, merciful and unfailing love for him throughout his life. Stop him and he’ll point to his adored wife Ivonne, son Javi and daughter Arielle as proof.

His duties as Grand Knight will be guided by one of his favorite Bible verses, Isaiah  6:8, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying “Whom shall I send?”…Here I am, send me!” He admits it gives him great joy to serve his St John Neumann Parish and community. Bernie can also testify to the promises made in Deuteronomy 31, “Be strong and steadfast; have no fear or dread of them, for it is the LORD, your God, who marches with you; he will never fail you or forsake you.”

His prayer; that all he does be pleasing to our Lord and bring God honor and glory. His desire; on that day, a big hug from The One-with a “job well done my good and faithful son”.

Deputy Grand Knight, Paul Banaszak

Sir Knight, Paul Banaszak, a Fourth Degree Knight, joined the Order in 2014 and has held several positions in the Council including Church Director, Community Director, Financial Secretary and Chancellor before becoming the Deputy Grand Knight.

Paul, too, is a cradle Catholic who was born and raised in Detroit Michigan, where he attended grade school at Our Lady Queen of Heaven and high school at De La Salle Collegiate high school.  He received a BSEE from Lawrence Institute of Technology.  After working for 15 years at one of the state utilities, he decided to move with his family to Miami Florida 35 years ago for work and has been a member of St John Neumann parish since then.  He is married to his loving wife Sandra and they have just celebrated their 49th anniversary.  He and Sandra have 3 adult sons and 3 grandchildren, ranging in age from  23, 5 and 6.

Paul has given his time, talent and treasure to the parish and all of the ministries he has been associated with. He  gets deeply involved to the best of his abilities.   His guiding light is best described by the book of James 2:26; “For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without good works is dead.”
